Production Manager

As a Production Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our Garden Isle Farms Ltd. operations, ensuring our potato packing facility's smooth and efficient functioning. Your leadership will be instrumental in optimizing productivity, maintaining quality, and fostering a safe and respectful work environment. You'll identify opportunities for improvement, manage production processes, oversee maintenance, and play a vital role in our storage strategy. Location: Albany, Prince Edward Island

Reporting To: General Manager
 
Job Duties:
  • Lead and supervise a team of production staff to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
  • Implement and oversee production processes to meet quality and quantity targets.
  • Place a high priority on creating and maintaining a safe and respectful work environment.
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce production costs.
  • Develop and maintain a storage strategy for our potato products to ensure quality and freshness.
  • Manage and schedule maintenance activities to ensure the facility's equipment and infrastructure are in good working condition.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in facility operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with the procurement team to ensure adequate supplies.
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure the effective flow of information throughout the team and to ensure production and delivery schedules are met.
  • Prepare reports on production metrics and present them to senior management.
  • Lead by example and provide team members with opportunities for learning and growth.
  • Operate Optical Grader and other equipment as required.
  • Other duties as may be required.
Working Conditions:
  • Full-time, permanent, year-round position.
  • Additional hours may be required (as needed), including weekends, during peak production times.
  • Exposure to agricultural and processing environments, including noise and dirt.
  • Standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50lbs, and crouching as needed.
  • Safety equipment and training will be provided.

Required Qualifications:
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Experience in the agriculture or food processing industry is considered an asset.
  • Experience in electrical and/or mechanical trades is considered an asset.
  • Experience leading teams is considered an asset.
  • Ambition, work ethic, and leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of production and quality control processes.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office Suite.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Employment Type: 
Full-Time, Permanent, Year-Round

Compensation and Benefits:
$23.00 - $26.00 per hour (Plus incentives, comprehensive benefits package, and overtime pay) ​​​​​
